HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK: THE URGENT MEASURES OF THE NEW DECREE LAW
Decree-Law No. 159 of 31 October 2025, approved by the Council of Ministers on 28 October 2025, concerning ‘Urgent measures for the protection of health and safety in the workplace and civil protection’, is now in force.
Overall, the regulatory intervention aims to strengthen the culture of safety, increase prevention and reduce accidents in all areas of work.
Focusing on labor law regulations, it is worth mentioning the new measures concerning:
- the revision of fluctuation rates and contributions in agriculture by INAIL (art. 1);
- supervisory activities relating to the contracting and subcontracting of construction site badges and credit licenses (Art. 3);
- the strengthening of the National Labor Inspectorate (INL) (Art. 4);
- accident prevention and safety training (Art. 5);
- INAIL insurance protection and strengthening of safety measures for students engaged in school-work training programs (Art. 7);
- the information system for social and labor inclusion, with a view to promoting employment (Art. 14);
- health surveillance and health promotion (Art. 17).
